The trailer for Rajkummar Rao’s highly anticipated film, Prahaar: The Ujjwal Nikam Story, has been released, and it has already sparked significant buzz among audiences. In the trailer, Rao portrays the role of special public prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam, but it is the shocking transformation of Lalit Prabhakar into Ajmal Kasab, the only terrorist captured alive during the 26/11 Mumbai attacks, that has captured everyone’s attention. The trailer was unveiled on September 29 at Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT), a site that was tragically targeted during the 2008 attacks.

Born in Kalyan, Maharashtra, he began his career in experimental theatre and was one of the select few artists in India to receive the Ministry of Culture’s Young Artiste Scholarship. He gained widespread recognition through the Zee Marathi show Julun Yeti Reshimgathi, which earned him the Best Actor award at the Zee Marathi Awards. His film debut came with Chi Va Chi Sau Ka in 2017, which won him the Maharashtra State Film Award for Best Debut Actor.

His career took a significant turn with the critically acclaimed film Anandi Gopal in 2019, where he portrayed Gopalrao Joshi, the husband of one of India’s first female physicians. The film won two National Awards, and Prabhakar’s performance garnered him multiple accolades, including the Filmfare Marathi Best Actor (Critics) award. His work has consistently received praise, and he has continued to build a strong reputation in the industry.

Looking ahead, Prabhakar is set to portray Dalit Panther co-founder and Padma Shri poet Namdeo Dhasal in the upcoming biopic Dhasal. The film, which features music by Ilaiyaraaja, has already generated excitement with the release of his first look as Dhasal, crafted by veteran make-up artist Shrikant Desai.
