Government Launches Special Campaign 6 for Improved Efficiency

The Government’s Department of Administrative Reforms & Public Grievances (DARPG) has officially kicked off the preparatory phase of Special Campaign 6. This initiative begins its implementation from October 2 to October 31, 2026, following a preparatory period from September 16 to September 30, 2026. The campaign seeks to enhance government efficiency and cleanliness across various ministries and departments.

Preparation and Training for Effective Implementation

As part of this preparatory phase, each ministry and department appointed nodal officers responsible for campaign activities at their respective offices, including attached and subordinate offices as well as public sector undertakings (PSUs) and autonomous organizations. These officers received training to equip them for their roles in the campaign. Activities during this preparatory phase included mobilizing field functionaries, addressing pending references, establishing a list of offices for the Swachhata (Cleanliness) Campaign, sorting electronic waste for disposal, and enhancing record management practices.

Monitoring Progress and Collaboration

The progress of Special Campaign 6 is being monitored through a dedicated web portal. All ministries and departments are required to upload their targets for the preparatory phase, ensuring transparency and accountability throughout the campaign. A significant meeting was convened with nodal officers to discuss the campaign’s progress, which was led by Secretary Smt. Nivedita Shukla Verma. The meeting gathered over 40 senior officials in person and more than 800 virtually from across 500 locations, representing 84 ministries and departments. Shri Puneet Yadav, Additional Secretary, presented updates on the campaign’s activities thus far.

Engagement and Achievements of Various Departments

Numerous ministries, including the Departments of Posts, Financial Services, Defence Production, Military Affairs, Agriculture, and Railways, highlighted their successes from Special Campaign 5. They also shared their plans for maximizing the impact of Special Campaign 6. Smt. Verma commended the hard work of officials from various departments, urging them to spread the campaign’s reach to all PSUs, autonomous bodies, and field offices, aiming to make this the largest campaign yet.

Raising Awareness Through Diverse Mediums

A robust awareness strategy has been employed, utilizing electronic, print, and social media platforms. The campaign has seen significant participation, evidenced by over 1,039 tweets and 54 official statements from the Press Information Bureau. In line with the objectives of promoting good governance, the DARPG will compile a collection of best practices in compliance with the campaign during the Good Governance Week activities in 2026.
