Major Opium Bust: CBN Intercepts Drugs on Manasa Route

In a significant anti-drug operation, the Central Bureau of Narcotics (CBN) has successfully intercepted a motorcycle carrying a substantial quantity of opium. On September 30, 2026, a special intelligence operation led to the recovery of 4.240 kg of opium on the Kanjarda–Manasa road, resulting in the arrest of one individual.

Acting on specific intelligence, the CBN’s Mandsaur P&I Cell mobilized a team to monitor a suspect riding a Hero Glamour motorcycle with Neemuch registration, believed to be transporting approximately 4-5 kg of opium from Kanjarda towards Manasa. The dedicated officers maintained strict surveillance along the suspected route, ready to act on any developments.

Operation Details

The pivotal moment occurred when the officers successfully identified the motorcycle. They promptly intercepted the vehicle and conducted a meticulous search, which led to the discovery of two packets containing a total of 4.240 kg of opium hidden within.

Following the operation, all legal formalities were fulfilled, and the motorcycle along with the seized opium was taken into custody under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985. The individual associated with the motorcycle was arrested for their involvement in this illicit activity.

Ongoing Investigations

Authorities are currently conducting further investigations to pinpoint the source of the narcotics and the intended destination. The CBN is actively working to identify any additional individuals connected to this illegal trafficking network.

The Central Bureau of Narcotics reiterates its unwavering commitment to combatting the trafficking and abuse of narcotic drugs. This operation aligns with their goal of promoting a drug-free India, reflected in their ongoing initiative termed ‘_Nasha Mukt Bharat_’.
