MoEFCC Launches Special Campaign 6 for E-Waste Management

The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC) has officially launched the Implementation Phase of Special Campaign 6, running from October 2 to October 31, 2026. This initiative aims to enhance cleanliness and reduce backlog within government offices, emphasizing activities that directly engage with the public.

Aligned with the guidelines from the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG), this year’s campaign highlights the crucial theme of “Effective Collection, Segregation and Disposal of E-Waste.” In addition to e-waste management, the campaign focuses on the upkeep of cleanliness at sites, the resolution of pending matters, organized record management, effective space utilization, and the disposal of unnecessary items and outdated furniture.

Targeted Initiatives Under Special Campaign 6

The MoEFCC has set specific targets to enhance various performance metrics, which will be pursued during the campaign period. These targets span cleanliness efforts, the liquidation of pending tasks, and effective record management. Notable targets include:

  • 132 sites designated for cleanliness initiatives.
  • 445 public grievances to be addressed.
  • A total of 12,234 physical files and 14,164 e-files identified for review.
  • 673 pieces of electronic and telecommunication equipment marked for disposal, along with consumer electronics and medical devices.

The identified e-waste will be processed in compliance with the established rules and SOP guidelines set forth by DARPG. The ministry aims to ensure thorough handling of these materials to promote environmental sustainability and compliance.

Implementation and Monitoring Framework

The campaign has been rolled out across all subordinate offices, autonomous organizations, and regional offices within the ministry. Nodal Officers have been appointed to oversee and coordinate activities, ensuring timely reporting and the achievement of the predefined targets. Progress will be consistently monitored through the Special Campaign for Disposal of Pending Matters (SCDPM) Portal of DARPG, which will receive regular updates throughout the campaign.

With these efforts, the MoEFCC aims to foster a cleaner, more organized work environment while taking significant steps towards responsible e-waste management, which is increasingly vital in today’s technology-driven society.
