DFPD Rounds Off Successful Swachhata Hi Seva-2026 Campaign

The Department of Food and Public Distribution (DFPD) marked the successful conclusion of its **Swachhata Hi Seva-2026 (SHS-2026)** campaign on **October 2, 2026**. The campaign spanned from **September 17 to October 2**, featuring a variety of cleanliness and awareness initiatives across India.

Initiating with a Swachhata pledge, the campaign involved DFPD alongside its Public Sector Units and various offices, executing numerous activities. These included cleanliness drives in Central Government offices, door-to-door awareness programs, drawing competitions, and walkathons. Notably, tree plantation drives under the theme **“Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam”** were a highlight, along with **“Ek Din Ek Ghanta Ek Saath”** activities that encouraged community engagement. Cultural programs wrapped up the fortnight, featuring poem recitations, Nukkad Nataks, and slogan writing.

On the eve of **Swachh Bharat Diwas**, officials participated in intensive cleanliness and sweeping activities, emphasizing the importance of hygiene and the dignity of labor. The culmination of the campaign coincided with the **157th birth anniversary** of **Mahatma Gandhi**, who is honored each year on this date as Swachh Bharat Diwas. In recognition of their hard work, **Safai Mitras** from the Department were honored with gifts to celebrate their crucial role in maintaining cleanliness and hygiene within the offices.

The concluding ceremony at the **Food Corporation of India (FCI)** headquarters also saw the acknowledgment of Safai Workers, who received awards and gifts for their loyalty and dedication throughout the campaign.

Meanwhile, the **Central Warehousing Corporation (CWC)** held a plantation drive as part of the **“Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam”** initiative. Officials reaffirmed their commitment to cleanliness and participated in the Swachhata Pledge through the MyGov portal, underlining the campaign’s focus on environmental sustainability and citizen involvement.

Additionally, officials from **IGMRI in Hyderabad and Ludhiana** took part in tree planting activities, aligning with the campaign’s goals. The **Central Grain Analysis Laboratory, CGO Complex in New Delhi**, also joined in with a plantation event on October 2, further contributing to the green efforts.

Looking ahead, the Department of Food and Public Distribution is dedicated to continuing the momentum of the **Swachhata** initiative, promoting cleanliness, environmental responsibility, and widespread community involvement well beyond the campaign’s official dates.
