Trent’s Q2 earnings: Revenue, operating profit grow at a faster pace

Trent’s operating performance showed significant improvement in the September quarter, with the operating EBIT margin expanding to 11.6% from 10.5% in the same period last year. For the first half of FY27, consolidated revenue rose 20% to Rs 11,628 crore, while net profit increased by 24% to Rs 986 crore. Operating EBITDA for the six-month period grew by 35% to Rs 1,633 crore.

On a standalone basis, the company reported a 23% rise in revenue from operations to Rs 5,788 crore. Operating EBITDA increased by 37% to Rs 791 crore, and net profit grew by 9% to Rs 490 crore. The difference in profit growth was partly due to a higher base in the previous year, which included pre-tax profits from asset sales.

Zudio, Westside expansion: Trent strengthens fashion retail presence

Store expansion was a key focus for Trent during the quarter, highlighted by the opening of its 1,000th Zudio store. As of September 30, the retail portfolio included 999 Zudio outlets, seven of which were located in the UAE, along with 311 Westside stores and 32 outlets under other lifestyle concepts.

During Q2, Trent added 19 Zudio and 10 Westside stores while consolidating two Zudio outlets. The company’s fashion retail footprint now spans over 18.5 million square feet across 339 cities, including three cities in the UAE. Trent is expanding Zudio’s value-fashion offerings alongside Westside’s broader lifestyle portfolio, responding to strong demand in tier-two and tier-three markets.

Star food and grocery business: Revenue grows over 20%

Trent’s food and grocery business, Star, reported revenue growth of over 20% in the September quarter, despite a competitive landscape. The company added one outlet during the quarter, bringing Star’s total store count to 87 across 13 cities.

More than 74% of Star’s revenue came from its own-brand products. The company noted that its private-label strategy was enhancing the economic profile of its stores. Noel N Tata, chairman of Trent, expressed confidence in the food and grocery segment, stating that the company would continue investing in its expansion to strengthen its market position.
