Major Drug Lab Busted in Uttar Pradesh by DRI
In a significant operation against illicit drug production, the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) has uncovered a large clandestine drug manufacturing laboratory in a remote village in Jalaun district, Uttar Pradesh. Authorities seized approximately 1,100 kg of synthetic drugs and precursor chemicals and arrested two individuals linked to the operation.
Coordinated Operation Leads to Huge Drug Seizures
Acting on credible intelligence, a dedicated team of DRI officers, supported by the Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS), executed a coordinated raid on October 29, 2026, at the suspected facility. The search revealed a fully operational laboratory equipped for the production of synthetic drugs, resulting in an impressive seizure of about 184 kg of semi-prepared drugs and 582 kg of precursor chemicals, in addition to essential manufacturing equipment.
Follow-Up Searches Yield More Evidence
Following the initial raid, further searches at the residences of the suspects uncovered approximately 15.4 kg of finished methaqualone, along with an additional 153 kg of chemicals and machinery involved in the production process. Another raid at a second suspect’s location yielded another significant haul of around 168 kg of precursor chemicals.
Impact on Illicit Drug Manufacturing
The extensive recovery of drugs, both finished and semi-processed, alongside precursor materials and equipment indicates a well-established organization involved in illegal drug manufacturing. This operation has effectively dismantled a large-scale production facility, significantly disrupting the illicit drug supply chain and curbing the potential production of more synthetic drugs.
Commitment to Combatting Drug Trafficking
DRI remains resolute in its mission to dismantle clandestine drug manufacturing networks, thereby targeting the supply chains that enable unlawful drug production. This recent crackdown is part of ongoing efforts to combat the trafficking of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances across the nation.
