Salman Khan Films Dismisses Claims of Maatrubhumi’s CBFC Certification Delay as “Entirely Baseless”
Salman Khan Films has officially addressed recent rumors regarding its upcoming war drama, Maatrubhumi: May War Rest In Peace. The production house firmly dismissed claims that the film has faced issues with the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). In a statement shared on social media, they clarified that the film has not yet been submitted for certification, labeling the reports as “false.”
Clarification from Salman Khan Films
On July 4, Salman Khan Films took to its official social media platforms to set the record straight. The statement read, “Any claims suggesting that Maatrubhumi: May War Rest In Peace has encountered issues with the CBFC or that its certification has been put on hold are false. The film has not yet been submitted to the CBFC for certification. Therefore, such reports are entirely baseless.” They urged media outlets and individuals to refrain from spreading unverified information, assuring that any official updates would come directly from their channels.
This clarification followed an NDTV report that suggested the CBFC had withheld the film’s clearance certificate, raising concerns about its theatrical release timeline. However, the production house did not specify when the film would be submitted for certification or if there had been any changes to its release schedule.
Background on Maatrubhumi: May War Rest In Peace
Originally titled Battle of Galwan, Maatrubhumi: May War Rest In Peace draws inspiration from the 2020 Galwan Valley clash between Indian and Chinese troops. The film was initially set for release on April 17, coinciding with Eid, but was postponed. There have been reports indicating that the makers are now aiming for an August release, potentially around the Independence Day weekend. Despite the ongoing speculation, the production house has yet to announce a revised release date.
Directed by Apoorva Lakhia and produced by Salma Khan under the Salman Khan Films banner, the film features Salman Khan in the role of Colonel Santosh Babu, the commanding officer of the 16 Bihar Regiment. He led Indian troops during the Galwan Valley confrontation while implementing the disengagement agreement at the border. The cast also includes Chitrangda Singh in the female lead, along with Abhilash Chaudhary and Ankur Bhatia in significant roles. The film’s music is composed by Himesh Reshammiya.
