C-DOT Celebrates 43 Years of Telecom Innovation
On a momentous day for telecommunications in India, Shri Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, Union Minister of Communications and Development of North Eastern Region, along with Dr. Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani, Minister of State for Communications and Rural Development, celebrated the 43rd Foundation Day of the Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DOT) in New Delhi. This event, attended by industry leaders and senior officials, marked over four decades of C-DOT’s impactful contributions to the advancement of indigenous telecom technologies since its inception in 1984.

The Foundation Day festivities included an exhibition inaugurated by the two ministers, which highlighted C-DOT’s homegrown technologies and solutions across various telecommunications sectors. Launching Quantum Innovations
A significant highlight of the event was the unveiling of the Quantum Products Wall. This display showcased C-DOT’s Quantum Series, featuring products like the indigenous Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) and Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC) solutions. These cutting-edge innovations are designed to bolster the security and resilience of India’s communication networks as the country steps into the emerging quantum era.

During his address, Minister Scindia praised C-DOT’s enduring legacy, stating, “We were behind the world in 4G, we walked with the world on 5G, but it is due to organizations such as C-DOT that today, Government of India and every proud Indian can say that we will lead the world in 6G.” He dedicated this milestone to the younger generation, emphasizing their role in fostering innovation and creativity.

The celebrations were accompanied by a conference themed ‘Beyond Connectivity: Secure, Trusted and Intelligent Communication.’ This gathering brought together government officials, industry experts, and academics to discuss crucial topics such as Cybersecurity, 6G Communications, and Quantum Secure Communications. Notable speakers included experts from IITs, Microsoft, and the National Quantum Mission, who shared insights on the future of telecommunications.

Dr. Rajkumar Upadhyay, CEO of C-DOT, reinforced the organization’s mission, stating, “C-DOT’s journey over the past 42 years has been driven by its commitment to developing indigenous technologies for the nation.” He articulated the need for evolving communication systems that prioritize security and trust, aligning with India’s ambitions of becoming a global technology leader.
