National Good Governance Webinar Highlights Award-Winning Initiatives

On August 25, 2026, the 39th National Good Governance Webinar showcased the Shiksha Setu initiative from Axom, which earned the prestigious PM’s Award for Excellence in Public Administration, 2024. This session, themed ‘Sustainability and Replication of the Initiatives Awarded under PMA,’ featured insightful presentations focused on enhancing governance.

Key Presentations at the Webinar

The webinar included two significant presentations that detailed both the initiative and its sustainable aspects. Dr. Om Prakash, Commissioner and Secretary of the Forest, Environment & Climate Change Department of Assam, discussed the sustainability features of the awarded initiative. Following him, Ms. Dipika Choudhury, Inspector of Schools in Kamrup Metropolitan, shared insights on implementing key aspects and future scalability of the Shiksha Setu initiative.

Wide Participation from Across India

Chaired by Shri Puneet Yadav, Additional Secretary of the Department of Administrative Reforms & Public Grievances (DARPG), the webinar attracted an impressive audience, with participation from over 600 locations across India. Senior officials from various Administrative Reforms Departments of States and Union Territories, District Collectors, state and district field officers, along with representatives from Central and State Administrative Training Institutes were present.

Continuing a Valuable Tradition

This initiative stems from a directive by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in April 2022, which encouraged the DARPG to organize virtual conferences. These events invite past PM’s Award winners to share their experiences to promote the wider adoption of successful governance strategies. Since the inception of this program, 38 webinars have been organized, each drawing approximately 1,000 officials from relevant sectors.

Impact on Governance

The focus on sharing knowledge through these webinars aims not only to celebrate award-winning initiatives but also to inspire other districts and departments. By replicating successful programs like Shiksha Setu, the government hopes to foster a culture of excellence in public administration across the country. This approach underscores the importance of sustainability in governance initiatives to ensure lasting impact and improvement in public services.
