NSE Hosts Investor Awareness Programme in Rajkot to Boost Financial Literacy

In a significant push towards enhancing financial literacy and fostering responsible investment practices, the National Stock Exchange of India (NSE) held an Investor Awareness Programme (IAP) in Rajkot, Gujarat, on January 3, 2026. This event aimed to cultivate a well-informed investment community and encourage safe investing habits among participants.

Engaging the Community in Financial Education

The programme attracted a diverse group of attendees, including seasoned investors, professionals, and students eager to expand their understanding of financial markets. The initiative is part of NSE’s broader strategy to create a robust ecosystem that supports investor education and financial wellbeing.

The session commenced with an overview of financial and securities markets, stressing the selection of financial products that align with individual objectives and risk tolerance. It also covered essential topics such as the rights and responsibilities of investors, grievance redressal mechanisms, and preventive measures against fraud and scams. Given the rapid changes in the financial landscape, the emphasis was placed on cautious and informed decision-making.

Boosting Gujarat’s Investor Landscape

Gujarat is recognized for its vibrant investor community, boasting approximately 1.1 crore registered investors, which accounts for 8.7% of the total investor base in India. The state has seen impressive growth, with a 10-year compound annual growth rate exceeding 17%. Notably, 2025 witnessed the registration of 11 lakh new investors, with Rajkot emerging as a leading district contributing significantly to this increase. Women investors represent 28% of the regional total, surpassing the national average of 25%.

NSE’s Commitment to Investor Safety

Shri Ashishkumar Chauhan, MD & CEO of NSE, emphasized the critical nature of investor education, stating, “Informed investors are pivotal for sustainable economic growth. Through our awareness initiatives, we aim to protect individuals from fraud and equip them with reliable knowledge as they participate in the country’s financial advancement.” The NSE is dedicated to safeguarding investor interests through its Investor Protection Fund Trust, which maintains a corpus of around ₹2,754 crore, positioning it among the leading protective frameworks worldwide.
