New Members Sworn in for Development Board Aimed at Empowering Communities
In a significant move towards enhancing support for marginalized groups, Shri Sudhansh Pant, Secretary of the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, administered the oath of office to Shri Narayan Dewasi and Shri Swaroop Singh Banjara, the newly appointed Members of the Governing Body of the Development and Welfare Board for De-notified, Nomadic and Semi-Nomadic Communities (DWBDNC). The ceremony took place at the Ministry’s Office today, marking an important step in promoting the welfare of these often-overlooked communities.
Both Dewasi and Banjara took their vows to remain loyal to the Constitution of India and to uphold the country’s sovereignty and integrity. In their oaths, they committed to execute their roles on the Board with diligence, fairness, and without personal bias, vowing to uphold justice for all individuals affiliated with De-notified, Nomadic, and Semi-Nomadic communities. This aligns with the overarching objectives of the Board, which include social and economic empowerment.
Shri Narayan Dewasi and Shri Swaroop Singh Banjara were appointed for a term of three years, beginning upon their respective start dates; Banjara took charge on September 17, while Dewasi officially began his duties on September 25, 2026. These appointments by the Department of Social Justice & Empowerment aim to bolster the Board’s capacity to fulfill its mandate effectively.
During the oath-taking ceremony, Secretary Sudhansh Pant expressed optimism regarding the new appointments, emphasizing that they would strengthen the Governing Body’s ability to promote initiatives for the socio-economic upliftment and overall empowerment of De-notified, Nomadic, and Semi-Nomadic communities.
The DWBDNC is dedicated to addressing the unique challenges faced by these communities.
