Empowering Futures: Mahindra Launches 12th Edition of Saarthi Abhiyaan for Truck Drivers’ Daughters

In a remarkable initiative aimed at empowering the next generation, Mahindra’s Truck and Bus business has officially launched the 12th edition of the ‘Saarthi Abhiyaan’ program. This transformative initiative has awarded over 11,000 scholarships to the daughters of truck drivers across India since its inception in 2014. With the upcoming edition, the company plans to extend its support further by offering 1,000 new scholarships, each valued at INR 10,000, to young women who have completed their 10th grade and are seeking to pursue higher education.

A Legacy of Support and Opportunity

The ‘Saarthi Abhiyaan’ program was born out of Mahindra’s commitment to foster education and equality among the daughters of truck drivers. The initiative recognizes the challenges faced by these families and aims to provide opportunities that allow these young women to reach their fullest potential. This is especially significant as the scholarships are available to daughters of truck drivers, regardless of whether their fathers drive Mahindra vehicles or not.

Mr. Vinod Sahay, President of Trucks, Buses & Construction Equipment, expressed the core mission of the program, stating, “Through Mahindra Saarthi Abhiyaan, we are not just providing scholarships but opening doors to a brighter future for girls and instilling hope in young hearts. By investing in their future, we are cultivating a generation of empowered women who will contribute significantly to our communities and the economy at large.” This sentiment underscores the program’s role in enhancing the lives of participants and promoting empowerment through education.

Celebrating Achievements and Future Plans

Mahindra’s outreach for this year’s scholarship selection will take place at over 75 transport hubs across India, ensuring a transparent and inclusive process for all applicants. The 1,000 selected daughters will each receive their scholarships via direct bank transfers alongside a certificate to acknowledge their achievements. The award ceremony is slated to take place between February and March 2026, with events hosted by the Mahindra Truck and Bus leadership at select locations.

Additionally, Dr. Venkat Srinivas, Business Head of Trucks, Buses & Construction Equipment at Mahindra Group, highlighted the broader societal impact of their efforts, saying, “Our sustained commitment through the Mahindra Saarthi Abhiyaan not only uplifts the daughters of truck drivers, but also fosters a culture of new opportunities and motivation. We wish to remain steadfast in our commitment to investing in their futures and developing a stronger, more equitable society where every girl can aspire to fulfill her potential and become the leaders of tomorrow.” These statements encapsulate the transformative nature of Mahindra’s initiatives, reflecting a wider goal of nurturing empowered women leaders in Indian society.
