India Showcases Defence Innovation at VISV-2026 Event

On October 30, 2026, the Manekshaw Centre in New Delhi became a hub for defence collaboration as Raksha Rajya Mantri Shri Sanjay Seth inaugurated **VISV-2026** (Vision, Innovation, Synergy, Values). Organized by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) in partnership with the Centre for Joint Warfare Studies (CENJOWS), the event adopted the theme “Showcasing Defence Capabilities, Strengthening Global Partnerships.” It included a key seminar focusing on DRDO’s strategic technology solutions for partner nations.

Four Pillars of Defence Development

In his address to the attendees, Shri Sanjay Seth elaborated on the four foundational pillars of VISV: Vision, Innovation, Synergy, and Values. These principles are aimed at enhancing India’s defence capabilities while fostering international cooperation. Vision helps in identifying future defence needs; Innovation translates research into viable technologies; Synergy unites the Armed Forces, research institutions, and industry; and Values cultivate partnerships grounded in trust and mutual respect. The minister reiterated India’s commitment to a technologically advanced and self-reliant defence ecosystem, an essential step towards the country’s goal of becoming Viksit Bharat by 2047.

Technological Self-Reliance and Global Outreach

Speaking on the theme of Innovation, the minister stressed the importance of effectively translating research and emerging technologies into practical defence solutions. He commended DRDO for its contributions to bolstering India’s indigenous defence capabilities, while also recognizing the pivotal role of Indian scientists, engineers, and industries in developing cutting-edge defence technologies.

During the event, the Raksha Rajya Mantri also unveiled a multilingual compendium of DRDO products in Arabic, Spanish, and French. This initiative aims to boost awareness of India’s defence solutions among international partners and enhance engagement opportunities.

Strengthening Industrial and Strategic Partnerships

Various other officials spoke about the necessity of integrating technological capabilities with industrial strength and institutional alliances to bolster India’s defence readiness. Defence Secretary Shri Rajesh Kumar Singh emphasized the significance of these integrations, while Shri Sanjeev Kumar, Secretary of Defence Production, discussed the potential to evolve from traditional buyer-seller relationships to joint development and co-production partnerships.

Shri Vikram Misri, the Foreign Secretary, highlighted the changing dynamics of defence diplomacy amid shifting geopolitical landscapes, stressing the importance of strategic autonomy and cooperation in emergent technologies.

Interactive Sessions and Future Collaborations

The program featured interactive discussions about avenues for joint collaborations, allowing representatives from the Department of Defence Production, DRDO, CENJOWS, SIDM, and Indian industry to exchange ideas and understand the specific needs of partner countries. This discussion served as a vital platform for exploring defence exports, technical exchanges, product adaptations, and co-development initiatives.

VISV-2026 attracted Defence Attachés and representatives from various foreign diplomatic missions alongside senior officials from related ministries and Indian defence organizations. This event highlighted India’s burgeoning capabilities in defence research, development, and production, reinforcing its resolve to build a self-reliant defence ecosystem while fostering enduring and beneficial partnerships with allied nations.
