Social Justice Ministry to Review Welfare Schemes in Diu

The Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment is set to host a vital Regional Review Meeting (RRM) tomorrow in Diu, part of the Union Territory of Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu. This event aims to thoroughly evaluate the progress of several key welfare and empowerment schemes in India’s Western Region, inviting senior officials from neighboring states including Rajasthan, Goa, and Maharashtra.

Shri Sudhansh Pant, the Secretary of the Ministry, will lead the discussions, outlining the primary goals of the meeting. Under the leadership of Hon’ble Administrator Shri Praful Patel, a roster of senior officials from the Union Territory will actively participate, including Shri Ashish Mohan from the Social Welfare Department and local authorities such as Collector Shri Rahul Dev Boora.

Senior representatives from the attending states, including directors and commissioners from their Social Welfare Departments, will join the deliberations. This collaboration is designed to improve institutional coordination among the Ministry, State governments, and the Union Territory, ensuring that social justice and empowerment programmes are implemented effectively, transparently, and with measurable outcomes.

Review of Key Social Empowerment Programs

The meeting will conduct a thorough, scheme-by-scheme evaluation of significant programmes under the Department of Social Justice & Empowerment. This includes the Pradhan Mantri Anusuchit Jaati Abhyuday Yojana (PM-AJAY) and crucial legislative measures aimed at protecting civil rights and preventing atrocities against Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes.

Participants will assess various metrics such as beneficiary coverage, resource utilization, and institutional mechanisms in place. Additionally, they will explore how these welfare initiatives align with complementary programmes, such as the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan, which addresses drug demand reduction.

Focus on Welfare Schemes and Last-Mile Delivery

Discussions will also extend to important topics like scholarship schemes for students, the welfare of senior citizens, and the National Action for Mechanised Sanitation Ecosystem (NAMASTE). Issues related to the outreach, application processes, and timely funding disbursement will be reviewed to ensure that assistance reaches all eligible individuals, especially marginalized groups.

The RRM will emphasize last-mile delivery, a key factor in ensuring the government’s welfare schemes effectively improve participants’ lives. The outcome of this session will pave the way for practical solutions to existing challenges, improve monitoring and data management, and enhance fund utilization.

Concluding the Meeting and Moving Forward

The concluding session will consolidate the meeting’s findings and set forth action points for participants. Authorities will finalize recommendations aimed at bolstering the coordination between the Ministry, states, and the Union Territory. The commitment to enhancing the welfare and empowerment of disadvantaged communities remains a priority as the Ministry seeks to ensure that benefits from government schemes reach those who need them most.
