Guneet Monga Kapoor’s Women in Film India Teams Up with Google Flow to Revolutionize Filmmaking with AI
Women in Film India (WIF India) has partnered with Google Flow to launch an exciting new initiative called the WIF India × Google Flow Filmathon. This program aims to provide filmmakers and storytellers with a unique opportunity to explore the intersection of cinema, creativity, and emerging technology. Participants will be encouraged to experiment with AI-assisted filmmaking, utilizing Google Flow to develop original ideas and discover innovative ways to bring their stories to life.
A Platform for Creative Exploration
The Filmathon invites filmmakers to learn, create, and take risks in their craft. Google Flow operates as a comprehensive workspace built on Google’s advanced Gemini Omni and Veo models. It offers an intuitive canvas for filmmakers to arrange scenes, batch edit clips, and layer audio. This initiative is designed to push the boundaries of traditional filmmaking by integrating new tools that enhance the creative process.
Guneet Monga Kapoor, Founder and CEO of WIF India, expressed her enthusiasm for the collaboration, stating, “WIF India is excited to create Filmathon with Google Flow because it gives filmmakers a real space to experiment. There is so much talent and so many stories waiting to be explored. We want to encourage filmmakers to stay curious, try new things and see where their ideas can go when they have access to a new creative tool. We are really looking forward to seeing the films that come from this.”
Encouraging Artistic Expression
Dr. Arathi Sethumadhavan, Director of International Activations & Product Insights at Google, also shared her excitement about the initiative. She noted, “Google Flow is already gaining remarkable momentum in India. Through the Filmathon, in collaboration with WIF India, we can’t wait to see the short films storytellers across the country bring to life — and how they expand the boundaries of artistic expression through this technology.”
Rabia Chopra, Head of Programming and Strategy at WIF India, emphasized the importance of storytelling in the filmmaking process. She stated, “Our collaboration with Google Flow gives filmmakers access to a new creative studio while keeping the most important part of filmmaking where it belongs: with the storyteller and the story. We are excited to see what filmmakers across the country create.”
Showcasing Talent at IFFI 2026
The Filmathon aims to bring together filmmakers at various stages of their careers, from novices exploring visual storytelling to established creatives seeking new challenges. Participants will have the chance to learn, experiment, and realize their cinematic visions. The top five films selected from the Filmathon will be showcased at the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa in 2026, providing a platform for these works to engage with India’s broader filmmaking community.
This initiative represents WIF India’s ongoing commitment to creating more access and meaningful opportunities for filmmakers through innovative platforms and partnerships. For Google, it aligns with their dedication to supporting creators with tools that are personal and inventive, helping them tell their own stories.
