Gold and Silver Prices Surge Amid Geopolitical Tensions
In a robust start to the holiday-shortened trading week, gold and silver prices soared to record levels on Monday. This spike comes as investors flock to safe havens amid escalating geopolitical uncertainties.
Geopolitical Factors Driving Precious Metals
The recent intensification of tensions between the United States and Venezuela, coupled with the assassination of a high-ranking Russian general in a bomb attack, has significantly heightened geopolitical risks. These developments have bolstered the appeal of gold and silver as safe-haven assets. Beyond geopolitical factors, the recent easing of U.S. inflation rates and the lack of surprising outcomes from the Bank of Japan’s recent policy meetings also contributed to the upward trend of these precious metals.
Current Market Levels for Gold and Silver
Market analysts have noted critical support and resistance levels for investors to keep an eye on. Currently, gold is expected to find support between $4,430 and $4,285, with resistance looming at the $4,510 to $4,545 range. For silver, support is positioned at $68.40 to $67.75, while resistance is identified at $70.00 to $70.90. In terms of Indian Rupees, gold is supported at Rs1,35,550 to Rs1,34,710, with resistance at Rs1,37,650 to Rs1,38,470. Silver prices have similar support at Rs2,11,150 to Rs2,10,280 and resistance at Rs2,13,810 to Rs2,14,970.
Crude Oil Prices on the Rise
Meanwhile, crude oil prices have also experienced an upward trend, driven by similar geopolitical concerns and delays in peace negotiations between Russia and Ukraine. The violent incident involving the Russian general has sparked fears over the peace process, indirectly creating a supportive backdrop for oil prices.
Adding to this pressure, softer inflation data out of the U.S. has raised expectations of potential future interest rate cuts by the Federal Reserve, further influencing crude oil prices. Analysts anticipate continued volatility in oil markets, with support observed at $57.10 to $56.50 and resistance projected at $58.40 to $59.20. In rupee terms, crude oil prices maintain support at Rs5,140 to Rs5,080, while resistance is at Rs5,295 to Rs5,355.
