CaratLane and Shaya Launch Designathon to Uncover Future Jewellery Talent

CaratLane, one of India’s leading jewellery brands, has teamed up with its silver label Shaya to unveil the winners of the inaugural Designathon, a global initiative aimed at discovering and nurturing new design talent. With the theme “Design for a Better Tomorrow – Shaping Futures,” this competition attracted over 700 imaginative entries from aspiring designers worldwide, challenging them to create works that blend beauty with environmental mindfulness.

Celebrating Creative Visionaries

CaratLane has consistently positioned itself as a leader in innovative jewellery design, viewing it as more than just aesthetics; it’s a storytelling medium that evokes emotion and drives social impact. Through the Designathon, the brand has reaffirmed its commitment to fostering emerging talent who can amplify their unique creative voices while addressing pressing global issues.

A Focus on Purposeful Innovation

Saumen Bhaumik, Managing Director at CaratLane, emphasized the initiative’s pivotal role in empowering young designers, stating, “Designathon commenced with a straightforward goal: to provide a meaningful platform for showcasing creativity. Our vision transcends mere trendsetting; we aspire to cultivate experiences that foster a more conscious and impactful world.”

Recognizing Outstanding Talent

After careful evaluation by a prestigious jury, comprising renowned industry figures, 30 designers were shortlisted for their ability to merge artistry with wearability—reflecting the spirit of the competition. Janvi Kesarwani from Prayagraj emerged as the overall winner with her captivating design, Ashborn, earning a grand prize of $5,000. Golnaz Etemadi from Iran followed as the first runner-up, recognized for her poignant piece, Earth Ablaze, which garnered her $3,000.

Moreover, three exceptional second runners-up received accolades, each earning $1,500: Garima Jain for Tectonic Cuff, Rudrani Sharma for VerdAura, and Tanya Suman for Kshaya, all demonstrating high-quality craftsmanship and an impactful vision.

Alongside monetary rewards, the winners were celebrated with trophies and certificates, acknowledging their remarkable contributions to the future of jewellery design. By championing this vibrant community of creators, CaratLane and Shaya explicitly aim to challenge the status quo and inspire a more responsible path for the jewellery industry.
