Bibhutibhushan Bandyopadhyay (12 September 1894 – 1 November 1950), an Indian writer in the Bengali language. His best-known works are the autobiographical novel, Pather Panchali (The Song of the Road), Chader Pahar, and Aranyak. Some of his Notable works are Pather Panchali, Aranyak, Adarsha Hindu Hotel, Debjan, and Hire Manik Jale. Bandyopadhyay got Rabindra Puraskar in 1951. He was born on 12 September 1894 in Muratipur, Bengal Presidency, British India.
Feroze Gandhi (12 September 1912 – 8 September 1960), a famous freedom fighter and an influential member of the Lok Sabha. He was the husband of Indira Gandhi, the first woman Prime Minister of India. In August 1942, Feroze Gandhi was arrested after being underground for some time in the ‘Quit India Movement’. After his release in 1946, he took over the post of managing director of Lucknow’s daily newspaper ‘National Herald’. Death Anniversary
12 September in Indian history is observed as the death anniversary of the following personalities:
Chandradhar Sharma Guleri (7 July 1883 – 12 September 1922), a noted litterateur of Hindi literature. Before the age of twenty, he was selected in the group formed for the restoration and related research work of the observatory of Jaipur and together with Captain Garrett he composed an English book titled “The Jaipur Observatory and its builders”. He died on 12 September 1922.
Rangeya Raghav (17 January 1923 – 12 September 1962), a writer of extraordinary talent. He was one of the distinguished and versatile geniuses of Hindi. His original name was TNB Acharya (Tirumallai Nambakam Veeraraghava Acharya). There is probably no part of Hindi literature where Dr. Rangeya Raghav, a seeker of Hindi literature, has not used his spiritual practice. He was an exclusive worshiper of Hindi literature with a fair complexion, a raised forehead, a long nose, and a sincere smile on his face. He died on 12 September 1962.
Shankar Jaikishan, a famous music composer duo of Hindi films. Whenever there is talk of melodious music that gives a feeling of relaxation and freshness in Indian films. Composer Jaikishan and his companion Shankar are simply remembered. They were the first composer duo to rule the music world as kings for nearly two decades and bring Hindi film music to international popularity for the first time. Jaikishan died on 12 September 1971.
