PMIS Industry Awards Celebrate Young Talent and Future Leaders

In a spirited celebration of youth empowerment, the Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA) held the PMIS Industry Awards on August 14, 2026, in New Delhi, coinciding with the country’s Independence Day festivities. The event highlighted the outstanding contributions of partner companies involved in the Prime Minister Internship Scheme (PMIS), particularly during its pilot phase.

Under the leadership of the Secretary of the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, the ceremony was attended by senior officials, industry partners, and over 100 current and former PMIS interns from different parts of India. The awards recognized organizations that have shown exceptional dedication to fostering young talent and providing high-quality internship experiences. Mahindra & Mahindra Limited was honored as the Overall Industry Champion for its significant role in promoting internships and engaging youth through the scheme.

Industry Insights and Success Stories

During the awards, various industry representatives shared their positive experiences with PMIS. A spokesperson from Mahindra & Mahindra Limited revealed, “Today, we have crossed the milestone of welcoming 1,000 interns across the Mahindra Group. This is nearly five times the number of interns who joined us in Round II, reflecting the evolution of the PM Internship Scheme into a program that operates at scale.”

IBM representatives echoed similar sentiments, emphasizing the fresh perspectives interns contribute to organizations and the importance of cultivating skills relevant to the future job market. Furthermore, an example from Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories illustrated the scheme’s broader implications: one intern leveraged their PMIS internship certificate to gain admittance to a prestigious pharmaceutical program at Long Island University in Brooklyn, showcasing the path to advanced education and career growth.

Connecting with Future Talent

Western Coalfields Limited also praised the PMIS for its role in attracting young talent to coalfields in rural parts of Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh, regions where it was traditionally difficult to source interns. This highlights the scheme’s ability to bridge the gap between youth and opportunities in less populated areas while meeting recruitment needs across various industries.
