Government Aims for Inclusive Development at Recent Event

The Union Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment, Dr. Virendra Kumar, reaffirmed the Central Government’s commitment to inclusive development, ensuring that no citizen or community is left behind. Speaking at a function held at Dr. Ambedkar International Centre, he emphasized that true social justice means extending the benefits of development to marginalized groups, guaranteeing equal opportunities, dignity, and respect for all.

Empowering Vulnerable Groups

During the event, Dr. Kumar addressed beneficiaries of various government schemes, including SEED, NAMASTE, and PM-AJAY, underscoring the Ministry’s efforts to uplift disadvantaged and vulnerable sections of society. Present at the occasion were senior officials from the Ministry, including Secretary Shri Sudhansh Pant and Joint Secretary Dr. Sandeep R. Rathod.

Key Initiatives for Sanitation Workers

The minister highlighted the NAMASTE scheme, which aims to ensure the safety, dignity, and sustainable livelihood of sanitation workers. This initiative promotes safe sanitation practices and includes numerous measures such as the provision of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), health insurance, and safety training. Additionally, the scheme integrates waste pickers into the formal solid waste management system to guarantee them safer and dignified livelihoods.

Focus on Manual Scavenging Rehabilitation

Dr. Kumar also addressed the government’s dedication to rehabilitating individuals engaged in manual scavenging, advocating for the elimination of hazardous cleaning practices. He stressed that every sanitation worker deserves a safe workplace and social security.

Support for Denotified and Nomadic Communities

The minister underscored the government’s commitment to empowering Denotified, Nomadic, and Semi-Nomadic communities. The SEED initiative aims to go beyond mere financial assistance to create sustainable livelihood opportunities, promote skill development, and foster self-reliance. Special emphasis is placed on empowering women from these communities to facilitate broader social change.

Expanding Educational Opportunities

Moreover, the Pradhan Mantri Anusuchit Jaati Abhyuday Yojana (PM-AJAY) aims to enhance education and economic empowerment within Scheduled Caste communities. This scheme intends to reduce poverty, expand employment opportunities, and improve educational infrastructure in areas predominantly inhabited by Scheduled Castes. The launch of a PM-AJAY mobile application and portal is set to transform scheme implementation to digital platforms, enhancing transparency and accountability.

A Collective Pledge Against Drug Abuse

During the event, Dr. Kumar led a pledge against drug abuse, encouraging all participants to work towards making India drug-free and supporting the rehabilitation of affected individuals. He engaged in an interactive session with beneficiaries, reinforcing that the government’s objectives encompass not only welfare schemes but also empowering communities towards self-reliance.

A Vision for a Developed India

As the nation approaches Independence Day, Dr. Kumar extended greetings to all beneficiaries of these initiatives, recognizing their contributions as foundational to the country’s progress. He called for collective efforts to ensure every citizen has equal opportunities and can contribute fully to nation-building. The minister expressed a firm commitment that no one will be left behind on the path to a developed India by 2047.
