Starbucks Reaches Settlement, Allocating $35 Million for 15,000 NYC Employees
Starbucks has reached a significant settlement, agreeing to pay approximately $35 million to over 15,000 workers in New York City. Additionally, the company will incur $3.4 million in civil penalties. Most hourly workers will receive $50 for each week worked between July 2021 and July 2024. Those who experienced scheduling violations after this period can still file complaints for compensation. The agreement also ensures that employees laid off during recent store closures will have opportunities for reinstatement. This settlement aims to address the grievances of workers who have faced unpredictable schedules and staffing shortages.
