India Marks Milestone with New Postal Training Centre in Shivpuri
In a significant initiative to enhance the capabilities of postal services, Union Minister for Communications and DoNER, Shri Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, has laid the foundation stone for the nation’s seventh Postal Training Centre in Shivpuri, Madhya Pradesh. This new facility aims to strengthen the training and development framework of the Department of Posts, following the vision set by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi for a developed Bharat.
Designed to serve as a national training hub, the centre will benefit postal employees from Madhya Pradesh and surrounding states. Its focus will be on equipping the workforce with modern skills and training in new technologies, ensuring that personnel are prepared for the evolving demands of the postal sector.
Modern Training Facility for Postal Employees
During the inaugural ceremony, Shri Scindia highlighted that the establishment of the new Postal Training Centre will eliminate the need for postal employees in Madhya Pradesh to travel nearly 600 kilometres for training. Reinforcing the traditional _Guru-Shishya Parampara_, he expressed that this centre exemplifies the Department of Posts’ dedication to enhancing learning and capacity building. He emphasized that the training facility is designed to adapt to technological advancements, providing postal employees with essential skills for modern postal operations and service delivery.
Community and Government Support
The foundation-laying ceremony was attended by various dignitaries, including Shri Pradyuman Singh Tomar, Minister for Energy, Government of Madhya Pradesh; local MLAs and community leaders; and senior officials from the Department of Posts. The centre in Shivpuri will be an essential addition to the existing network of six Postal Training Centres located in Saharanpur, Vadodara, Mysuru, Guwahati, Madurai, and Darbhanga, which collectively train around 2,000 personnel annually.
Shivpuri’s Strategic Advantage
Shivpuri, centrally located in Madhya Pradesh, was chosen for its ideal connectivity and central position within India, making it a strategic location for a national training hub. The new centre aims to provide specialized, technology-enabled training to ensure postal personnel are well-equipped for contemporary, citizen-focused service delivery.
Upgrading Services: The Shivpuri Head Post Office
Alongside the foundation-stone laying, Shri Scindia also inaugurated the renovated Shivpuri Head Post Office, which has been modernized to enhance citizen convenience and service efficiency. The upgrades align with guidelines from the School of Planning and Architecture (SPA) in New Delhi, featuring modern service counters and a multi-purpose facility known as Jan Sewa Connect, which consolidates various postal services at a single location.
These enhancements follow recent efforts to improve postal services, with the minister having opened 14 Jan Sewa Connect Post Offices across the country just the week prior. The upgraded Shivpuri Head Post Office offers improved customer amenities and aims to facilitate services such as Speed Post, Savings Bank, and Postal Life Insurance, among others, showcasing a commitment to modernize and enhance the overall postal service experience.
