Razer has officially launched its Razer PC Remote Play platform, a groundbreaking service that allows gamers to stream PC games directly to mobile devices, including smartphones and tablets. Announced in beta at CES 2025, this platform promises high-fidelity visuals and seamless gameplay without the common issues of letterboxing or pillarboxing. With support for a wide range of gaming libraries, Razer aims to enhance the mobile gaming experience significantly.

Key Features of Razer PC Remote Play

The Razer PC Remote Play platform boasts a host of features designed to optimize gaming performance. The platform is integrated with the Razer Cortex PC, which serves as a launcher equipped with tools to enhance PC performance during gameplay. Built on the open-source Moonlight game streaming client, it utilizes Nvidia’s GameStream protocol, enabling users to play and stream games from virtually anywhere on supported devices.

Gamers can access titles from popular libraries such as Steam, Epic Games, and Xbox PC Game Pass. The platform is compatible with Windows 10 and Windows 11 PCs, allowing streaming to devices running iOS 18 or later and Android 14 or higher. Setting up the service is straightforward: users need to install the Razer Nexus and Razer PC Remote Play apps on their mobile devices, enable Remote Play in the Razer Cortex program on their host PC, and sign in with their Razer ID to pair their devices. Additionally, connecting a compatible controller, such as the Razer Kishi or Kishi Ultra, enhances the gaming experience.

Extensive Controller Support and Enhanced Experience

One of the standout features of the Razer PC Remote Play platform is its extensive controller support. In addition to touch-based controls, it accommodates a variety of controllers compatible with both Android and iOS devices. This includes full compatibility with keyboard, mouse, and trackpad inputs when streaming games to an iPad. When paired with the Razer Kishi Ultra controller, users can enjoy realistic tactile feedback, enhancing the immersion during gameplay with sensations like explosive gunfire and rumbling vehicle engines.

The platform is also optimized to leverage the capabilities of the streamed device’s display. Razer has designed it to automatically adjust gameplay performance to match the maximum resolution and refresh rate of the device. This eliminates the need for fixed aspect ratios, effectively addressing issues like letterboxing and pillarboxing. Furthermore, the platform supports the AV1 codec, resulting in improved video quality and reduced latency, making for a smoother gaming experience.
