PM participates in historic program marking ‘Veer Bal Diwas’

Today, Shri Narendra Modi participated in a historic event marking ‘Veer Bal Diwas at Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium in Delhi. About three hundred Baal Kirtanis performed a Shabad Kirtan during the program. In addition, the Prime Minister flagged off a march-past by about three thousand children in Delhi.

On 9th January 2022, the day of the Prakash Purab of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji, the Prime Minister had announced that 26th December would be observed as Veer Bal Diwas, commemorating the martyrdom of two sons of Sri Guru Gobind Singh – Baba Zorawar Singh Ji and Baba Fateh Singh Ji.

In his remarks, the Prime Minister noted that India is celebrating the first Veer Bal Diwas today. As a nation, we come together to bow our heads in tribute to the sacrifices made in the past. The Prime Minister said that Shaheedi Saptah and Veer Bal Diwas are not just a cauldron of emotions, but also a source of infinite inspiration.

According to the Prime Minister, Veer Bal Diwas will remind us that age does not matter when it comes to valor and sacrifice. In celebration of Veer Bal Diwas, we will recall the contributions made by ten Sikh gurus and the sacrifices made by the Sikh tradition to protect the honor of the nation. Veer Bal Diwas will tell us what is India and what is its identity and every year, Veer Bal Diwas will inspire us to recognize our past and make our future. As a result, everyone will be reminded of the strength of our young generation”, he added. Mata Gurjari and the Veer Sahibzades were honored by the Prime Minister. “It is the good fortune of our government that we were able to declare 26th December Veer Bal Diwas”, he said.

A thousand-year-old history of the world is filled with chapters of gruesome cruelty, according to the Prime Minister. Throughout history, our heroes overshadow the faces of brutality whenever we come across their violent faces. There can never be a forgetting of what happened in the wars of Chamkaur and Sirhind, the Prime Minister said. In addition, these incidents occurred only three centuries ago on this land. “On one hand, there was the mighty Mughal Sultanate blinded by religious fanaticism, but on the other hand, there were our Gurus gleamed in knowledge and living by the ancient principles of India”, he continued, “On one hand, there were heights of terror and religious fanaticism, while on the other hand, there was a pinnacle of spirituality and kindness to see God in all people. Despite all this, the Mughals had an army of millions, whereas the Veer Sahebzades of Guru had their courage. Despite being alone, they did not bow down to the Mughals. This is when the Mughals walled them in alive. For centuries, their bravery has inspired people
Paying tribute to Sikh Guru Parampara the Prime Minister said that it is not just a tradition of spirituality and sacrifice but also a source of inspiration for the concept of Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’. The biggest example is the cosmopolitan and inclusive character of Sri Guru Granth Sahib where preachings and commentary of saints from all over India are included. The life journey of Guru Gobind Singh Ji also exemplifies this trait, the Prime Minister said. Referring to the fact that ‘Panch Pyare’ came from all parts of the country, the Prime Minister exuded pride that one of the original Panch Pyara was from Dwarka, land from where the Prime Minister also hails.

Prime Minister Gobind Singh Ji’s unwavering resolve led to the resolution of ‘Rastra Pratham’ – country first. He backed up his claim by recounting the immense sacrifices made by his family. As the Prime Minister noted, “this tradition of ‘Nation First’ is a huge inspiration for us”.

According to Shri Modi, the future of India’s coming generations will depend on their source of inspiration. From ancient times to the modern period, brave boys and girls have been an example of India’s valour, as the Prime Minister recounted examples of Bharat, Bhakt Pruhlaad, Nachiketa and Dhruv, Bal Ram, Luv-Kush and Bal Krishna.

Chief Minister of Punjab, Shri Bhagwant Mann, Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Shri Eknath Shinde, and Union Ministers, Shri Hardeep Singh Puri, Shri Arjun Ram Meghwal, Smt Meenakshi Lekhi were those present on the occasion among other.
