Over 3,800 Children Rescued in NCPCR Campaign Against Child Labour
The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) has successfully rescued over 3,800 children through its special “Pan-India Rescue and Rehabilitation” campaign, which ran from June 12 to August 31, 2026. This initiative aimed to intensify efforts against child labour and trafficking across India. In collaboration with various state governments and local authorities, the NCPCR focused on identifying and rehabilitating vulnerable children, ensuring their safety and integration into society.
Coordinated Rescue Operations
The NCPCR worked closely with state governments, district magistrates, labor departments, and police authorities to carry out targeted rescue operations in known hotspots for child labour and trafficking. They urged states and union territories to enhance their reporting on rescue operations, including the number of children saved, First Information Reports (FIRs) registered, and the rehabilitation measures taken.
Monitoring and Community Engagement
To ensure the effectiveness of the campaign, the NCPCR held meetings with district administrations. These meetings provided a platform to address challenges related to the rescue operations, streamline procedures for timely reporting, and coordinate efforts among relevant agencies. The NCPCR also leveraged social media and other communication channels to raise awareness about child labour and the importance of rehabilitation and educational mainstreaming for rescued children.
Results of the Campaign
With proactive monitoring and continuous engagement, the campaign resulted in the rescue of over 3,800 children. In addition, more than 575 FIRs were registered during the campaign, reflecting the seriousness of the issue and the commitment towards tackling it head-on. The NCPCR’s collaborative approach has not only highlighted the critical need for such initiatives but also fostered a community environment focused on child protection and rights.
