Government Campaign Resolves Over 2,300 Pension Grievances
The Department of Pension and Pensioners’ Welfare (DoPPW) has successfully addressed a significant number of long-standing grievances faced by central government pensioners. Launched on July 7, 2026, the third iteration of the Special Campaign aimed to resolve pending pension claims and issues effectively and efficiently. With a successful conclusion on August 31, 2026, the campaign has showcased the government’s commitment to enhancing pensioner welfare.
During the preparatory phase, all related ministries and departments were tasked with pinpointing long-delayed grievances, claims, and issues submitted both online and offline. This phase identified a total of 1,062 target cases. Additionally, it focused on tackling 2,131 grievance cases that had been lodged in the CPENGRAMS portal for over a month.
The execution phase saw the DoPPW actively collaborating with various ministries and departments to resolve these grievances. Two review meetings were held mid-campaign to monitor progress and resolve any pending issues. The concentrated efforts of 40 ministries and departments led to a commendable resolution of 2,306 out of 3,193 cases, achieving a redressal rate of 72%. Follow-ups continue for the remaining grievances, ensuring no case goes unresolved.
A notable aspect of this campaign is the demographic distribution of the resolved cases, which indicates that many of the pensioners served were from rural areas. This trend reflects a positive shift as grievances are increasingly being addressed online through various government portals, thereby narrowing the digital divide.
Among the remarkable success stories from this campaign include several significant financial disbursements:
- Ms. Jayalakshmi Karnan received ₹16.70 lakh for her family pension arrears dating back to June 2013.
- Shri Idan Singh was settled ₹30 lakh in disability pension arrears from September 2016.
- Mr. Kapur Singh obtained ₹26.12 lakh as arrears for war injury benefits from January 2006.
- Ms. Rukmani Nair received ₹19 lakh in dual family pension arrears from September 2012.
- Ms. Saranjit Kaur collected ₹18.57 lakh in special family pension arrears along with ₹12.60 lakh in Ex gratia from July 2008.
- Ms. Sunaina Kumari secured ₹6.27 lakh in family pension arrears from March 2022.
- Ms. Simarto received ₹10.66 lakh towards liberalized family pension arrears from January 1996.
- Ms. Angoori Devi was disbursed ₹37.40 lakh related to family pension differences from January 1996.
- Sh. Ranjit Singh collected ₹25.99 lakh towards overdue service pension arrears from October 2004 to December 2023.
- Ms. Koranga Lakshmi received ₹30.15 lakh for family pension arrears covering June 2011 to February 2026.
The government’s proactive measures through this campaign mark a significant step towards improving the life quality of pensioners and ensuring that their concerns are resolved in a timely manner.
