Microsoft Launches New AI Sales Agents

On Wednesday, Microsoft introduced two innovative artificial intelligence (AI) agents designed to enhance sales operations for enterprises. These new tools, integrated into Microsoft 365 Copilot, aim to automate tedious tasks, allowing sales professionals to focus on more strategic activities. Named Sales Agent and Sales Chat, these AI agents promise to streamline the sales process by converting contacts into qualified leads and expediting the overall sales cycle.
Microsoft Releases New Sales Agents
In a recent blog post, Jared Spataro, Chief Marketing Officer for AI at Microsoft, elaborated on the capabilities of these two new tools. While the company did not explicitly confirm it, the AI agents are likely powered by the Copilot technology. These specialized AI systems are designed to not only gather information but also take actionable steps in real-world scenarios.
The Sales Agent is designed to autonomously enhance the sales team’s lead pipeline. It can research potential leads, schedule meetings, and directly engage with customers. Microsoft claims that this AI agent may even be capable of completing sales for low-impact leads. By sourcing data from an enterprise’s Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system, pricing sheets, and online resources, the Sales Agent can access Microsoft 365 data, including emails and meeting notes. This allows it to personalize responses, ensuring they do not come across as automated messages. Microsoft believes that this tool will significantly free up sales executives’ time, enabling them to concentrate on closing larger deals.
Accelerating Sales with Sales Chat
The second AI tool, known as Sales Chat, is designed to accelerate the sales cycle by providing actionable insights derived from CRM data, pitch decks, meetings, emails, and online resources. This chat tool is capable of processing text prompts and supports natural language queries, making it user-friendly for sales executives. Microsoft asserts that Sales Chat can quickly familiarize itself with new accounts, saving valuable time that would otherwise be spent on research.
Availability and Integration
Microsoft has announced that these new AI agents will enter public preview in May. They will be accessible through Microsoft 365 Copilot and Copilot Chat for business users. Furthermore, these tools can seamlessly connect with both Microsoft Dynamics 365 and Salesforce, allowing for customization to integrate with an enterprise’s complete business data. This integration is expected to enhance the overall efficiency of sales teams, making it easier for them to manage their workflows and improve productivity.
