Singh pursued his education at Gorakhpur University, where he completed his Bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Hindi literature. Later, he went on to earn a Ph.D. in Hindi literature from the same university.

Kedarnath Singh began his career as a lecturer at DDU Gorakhpur University, where he taught Hindi literature. He also served as a professor at the same university and made significant contributions to the field of Hindi literary criticism.
