Zoho Launches In-House Zia AI Model with Multiple Features

Zoho, the prominent software-as-a-service (SaaS) company, has unveiled a suite of innovative artificial intelligence (AI) products during its annual user conference, Zoholics India, in Bengaluru. Among the highlights is Zia, Zoho’s first in-house large language model (LLM), along with an automatic speech recognition (ASR) model and over 25 pre-built AI agents. The company aims to enhance its offerings by allowing third-party agents to connect to its library through a model context protocol (MCP) server. These advancements mark a significant step in Zoho’s commitment to integrating AI into its product ecosystem.

Zoho’s In-House AI Model and Capabilities

The centerpiece of Zoho’s latest announcements is the Zia LLM, developed entirely in-house using Nvidia’s AI-accelerated computing platform. Currently in the testing phase, Zoho anticipates making these models available to customers by the end of the year. Zia will be offered in three parameter sizes: 1.3 billion, 2.6 billion, and 7 billion. These models are specifically trained with Zoho’s product use cases in mind, enabling them to perform various tasks such as structured data extraction, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), code generation, and summarization. Zoho asserts that Zia’s performance is competitive when compared to similarly sized open-source models, with plans to scale the models further by increasing their parameter sizes by the end of 2025.

In addition to the LLM, Zoho is expanding its capabilities in automatic speech recognition. The company has introduced two new ASR models designed for speech-to-text conversion, initially supporting English and Hindi. Future plans include broadening the language support to include other Indian and European languages. Furthermore, a reasoning language model (RLM) is also in development, indicating Zoho’s commitment to enhancing its AI technology.

Enhanced AI Agents and Integration

Zoho has developed over 25 AI agents that are now integrated into its suite of products. One of the standout agents is Ask Zia, a conversational AI assistant capable of analyzing data, generating reports and dashboards, and assisting in machine learning model development. The latest updates to Ask Zia will enhance its functionality for Finance and Customer Support teams, making it a versatile tool for various business needs.

The Zia Agent Studio, a platform for creating AI agents, has also seen significant improvements. It is now entirely prompt-based, allowing users to build agents without extensive coding knowledge. These agents can be integrated with over 700 actions across Zoho’s products, and they can be utilized within customer conversations, enhancing user interaction and support.

Among the newly introduced pre-built agents is the Candidate Screener, which assists in recruitment by identifying and ranking candidates based on their skills and experience. Another notable agent is the Deal Analyzer, which provides insights into deals, including win probability and recommended next steps. Additionally, Zoho has launched several AI agents tailored for the Indian market, focusing on the verification of various identification documents and utility bills, accessible through the company’s agent marketplace.

Model Context Protocol Server and Third-Party Integration

In a significant move to enhance interoperability, Zoho has adopted Anthropic’s Model Context Protocol (MCP) and developed its own in-house MCP server. This server enables third-party AI agents to access Zoho’s data and actions from various first-party applications while adhering to user-defined permission structures. Currently, the MCP server offers early access to more than 15 Zoho tools, with plans to expand this selection in the coming months. Third-party tools can be seamlessly integrated through Zoho Flow, allowing users to leverage a broader range of functionalities within the Zoho ecosystem. This initiative not only enhances the capabilities of Zoho’s products but also fosters collaboration with external developers, creating a more robust and versatile platform for users.
