Top Stock Recommendations: Nifty Outlook for the Week of April 27-30

The stock market is experiencing a notable shift, with analysts recommending Aster DM Healthcare and GE Vernova T&D India as top picks for investors this week. Sudeep Shah, Head of Technical Research and Derivatives at SBI Securities, shared insights on the current trends in the Nifty and Bank Nifty indices. As the market navigates a correction phase, investors are left to ponder whether this presents a buying opportunity or if further declines are on the horizon.

Nifty Index Trends

The Nifty index has shown signs of a correction after a recent rally that began from a low of 22,182. Last week, it slipped below the 23,900 mark, closing down 1.87%. This decline is attributed to profit-taking following a strong recovery. The Nifty IT index, in particular, faced a sharp correction of 10.31% due to disappointing fourth-quarter earnings and cautious outlooks from management. This raises a critical question for investors: is this correction a chance to buy, or is there more downside to come?

From a technical perspective, the Nifty has fallen below its 20-day and 50-day exponential moving averages (EMAs), indicating a loss of short-term momentum. Despite a minor rebound during the last trading session, the daily Relative Strength Index (RSI) has dropped below the 60 mark, suggesting waning bullish momentum. Additionally, the MACD histogram has been declining for five consecutive sessions, reinforcing the slowdown in the recent rally. Analysts predict that the Nifty will likely remain range-bound in the upcoming sessions, with the IT sector’s weakness counterbalanced by resilience in the banking sector. Key support levels are identified between 23,700 and 23,650, while resistance is seen around 24,200 to 24,250.

Bank Nifty Performance

The Bank Nifty index has also undergone a corrective phase but has demonstrated relative strength compared to other indices. Last week, it found buying support near its previous swing low and experienced a slight rebound, indicating demand at lower levels. The weekly chart shows a small-bodied candle with shadows on both sides, reflecting indecision among investors.

The Bank Nifty-Nifty ratio continues to show higher tops and bottoms, suggesting sustained strength against the broader market. Technically, the index remains above its 20-day EMA, which supports a positive near-term trend. The daily RSI is around 52.39, indicating neutral momentum without signs of exhaustion. Looking ahead, the 20-day EMA zone of 55,700 to 55,600 is expected to act as immediate support, while the 200-day EMA area around 56,600 to 56,700 will serve as crucial resistance. A breakout above 56,700 could signal a continuation of the broader uptrend, potentially leading to levels of 57,500 and 58,200 in the short term.

Stock Recommendations

SBI Securities has identified Aster DM Healthcare as a strong buy. The stock has recently broken out of its consolidation range of 693 to 652, supported by a surge in trading volumes. The RSI has moved above 60, indicating increased momentum. Aster DM Healthcare is trading above its key short and long-term moving averages, reinforcing a bullish outlook. Investors are advised to accumulate shares in the range of 708 to 700, with a stop-loss set at 680. The stock is expected to test the 760 level in the near term.

Similarly, GE Vernova T&D India has shown a robust breakout from its consolidation range of 4,290 to 4,035. The stock is characterized by a pattern of higher highs and higher lows, indicating a solid uptrend. It continues to trade above its key moving averages, suggesting underlying strength. With a rising Average Directional Index (ADX) and a positive MACD slope, the stock is well-positioned for further gains. Investors are encouraged to accumulate shares in the range of 4,610 to 4,580, with a stop-loss at 4,460. The stock is projected to reach 4,930 in the short term.
