Rajnath Singh Urges Nation to Support Soldiers

In a heartfelt appeal, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has called on citizens to actively contribute to the welfare of soldiers and their families, emphasizing this as a national duty. Speaking at the Armed Forces Flag Day Corporate Social Responsibility (AFFD CSR) Conclave in New Delhi on March 3, 2025, he highlighted the unwavering commitment of Indian soldiers who protect the nation under challenging conditions. Singh stressed that while the government is dedicated to enhancing security and soldier welfare, collective support from the public is crucial.
National Duty to Support Soldiers
During his address, Rajnath Singh underscored the importance of national solidarity in supporting the armed forces. He stated that the soldiers stand vigilant at the borders, ready to face threats to the country. “It is our collective responsibility to support them in every way possible,” he asserted. The Defence Minister’s remarks serve as a reminder that the welfare of soldiers and their families should be a priority for every citizen. He urged the corporate sector to foster a deeper connection with the military community, moving beyond mere financial contributions to a more heartfelt commitment.
Beyond Financial Contributions
Rajnath Singh emphasized that Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) should not be limited to the mandatory 2% contribution. Instead, he encouraged businesses to forge a genuine bond with the soldiers and their families. “Whatever contribution you make will not be ordinary,” he stated, urging corporate leaders to focus on creating a balance sheet filled with satisfaction and happiness rather than liabilities. This approach aims to cultivate a culture of empathy and support for those who serve the nation.
Government’s Commitment to Soldier Welfare
The Defence Minister reiterated the government’s commitment to enhancing private sector participation in soldier welfare initiatives. He expressed confidence that with increased collaboration, India could emerge as one of the top three economies globally by 2027. Singh acknowledged the generous contributions made by corporate houses to the AFFD Fund and recognized top CSR donors during the event. The government’s efforts include providing financial assistance for the rehabilitation of war widows, children of fallen soldiers, and disabled ex-servicemen, ensuring they receive the support they need.
How to Contribute to the AFFD Fund
Individuals and organizations wishing to support the Armed Forces Flag Day Fund can make contributions through various methods, including cheque, demand draft, or electronic transfers. A QR code is also available for convenient donations. The Department of Ex-Servicemen Welfare, part of the Ministry of Defence, is dedicated to assisting those who have served the nation, offering grants for education, medical needs, and other personal requirements. The conclave was attended by senior officials, including Raksha Rajya Mantri Sanjay Seth and Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal AP Singh, highlighting the collaborative effort between the government and the corporate sector in supporting the armed forces.
