Kirti Kulhari’s Production Debut ‘Kinaare’ Set to Premiere at Dharamshala International Film Festival

Acclaimed actor Kirti Kulhari is stepping into a new role as a producer with her debut feature film, Kinaare. The film will have its premiere at the upcoming Dharamshala International Film Festival (DIFF). This project marks a significant milestone in Kulhari’s career, as she takes on the responsibilities of producing under her banner, Kintsukuroi Films, alongside co-producers Abhishek Koka and Maansi Guptey.

A Personal Journey in Film

Kinaare is written and directed by the Qadri brothers, Akbar and Azam Qadri. The film features an ensemble cast that includes Kulhari, Rajeev Siddhartha, Alka Amin, and Ravi Taneja. Set in a village near Delhi, the story revolves around Amina, played by Kulhari, who dedicates her life to caring for her aging parents. Her routine is disrupted by the unexpected arrival of her cousin brother after 15 years, which brings unresolved family issues to the forefront. The narrative explores themes of love, loss, and acceptance, promising an intimate cinematic experience.

Reflecting on her journey as a producer, Kulhari expressed her deep connection to the project. “Kinaare is a film that happens to be my first child as a producer, and that will always remain special. It’s a script that really resonated with me. It’s a simple, heartwarming, and subtle film. I find all these adjectives in Iranian films—which I’ve always really loved—so when something like this came to me, I knew I had to make it,” she shared.

The Challenges of Production

With over a decade of experience in acting, Kulhari acknowledges the challenges that come with producing a film. She emphasized the importance of independence in her creative vision. “This is exactly how I wanted to make this film: independently, make it the way I see it, the way we all see it collectively. It’s amazing that each and every member of the film has come together, believing in the script, and stood by my side purely for the passion of cinema, for the sole reason of being a part of the film for what it is. So, I’m very proud and happy to have brought something like Kinaare for the world to see,” she stated.

Co-star Rajeev Siddhartha echoed Kulhari’s sentiments, highlighting the unique rhythm of the script and the collaborative atmosphere on set. “I feel every actor looks forward to and hopes that they come across a script where not only is the written word important, but also the script itself encourages you to explore the spaces between the words. And with Kinaare, I got to do that as an actor. I feel Kinaare has such a universal theme that everybody who sees it will definitely be touched, be moved and be slightly changed from within after the experience,” he remarked.

The Creative Team Behind Kinaare

The artistic vision of Kinaare is further enhanced by a talented crew, including cinematographer Arjun Sundaram, music composer Mohan Kannan, editor Bakul Matiyani, and sound designer Sanjay Chaturvedi. Together, they contribute to the film’s intimate storytelling and emotional depth.
