Government approved the initiative of setting up of 100 new Sainik Schools

Under the aegis of the Sainik Schools Society in the Ministry of Defence, the government has approved the setting up of 100 new Sainik Schools in partnership with NGOs, Private Schools and State Governments in a graduated manner, starting from Class 6 onwards, with an aim to cover as many States and UTs as possible. For each approved school, the Government of India will provide an annual assistance of up to 50% of the fees (up to an upper limit of Rs. 40,000/- per student per annum) for up to 50% of the class size (up to a maximum of 50 students per class per annum).

100 new Sainik schools to provide more opportunities for girls to join the Armed Forces

According to the proposal, a pro-rata distribution of 100 New Sainik Schools has been done to various States & UTs proportionately to the number of districts in that particular State/UT. All NGOs/Private/State Government Schools who want to apply can apply. The application will be approved based on meeting the qualifications set out for the purpose and agreeing to the Rules & Regulations of New Sainik Schools in Partnership mode and signing a Memorandum of Agreement with the Sainik Schools Society and limited to the number of New Sainik Schools for that particular state.
