FWICE Set to Reconsider Non-Cooperation Directive Against Ranveer Singh Today Amid Don 3 Buzz
On May 25, the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) issued a non-cooperation directive against actor Ranveer Singh, igniting significant discussions in the Bollywood community. This decision stemmed from a dispute between Singh and Excel Entertainment regarding the film “Don 3.” Following the initial press conference, FWICE announced a follow-up press meet scheduled for June 3, which aims to address the ongoing issues surrounding the actor and the production company.
Potential Lifting of Non-Cooperation Directive
Sources have informed Bollywood Hungama that during the upcoming press conference, FWICE is likely to announce the lifting of the non-cooperation directive against Ranveer Singh. This decision comes after consultations with senior members of the film industry. If the directive is revoked, it would allow workers to collaborate with Singh on his future projects without restrictions.
The press conference will again feature key FWICE figures, including chief advisor Ashoke Pandit, president B N Tiwari, general secretary Ashok Dubey, and treasurer Gangeshwalal Shrivastav. Their presence indicates the importance of this meeting in resolving the ongoing dispute.
Legal Developments in the Dispute
In a twist to the ongoing situation, Ranveer Singh has reportedly sent a legal notice to FWICE following the issuance of the non-cooperation directive. This legal action highlights the seriousness of the conflict and Singh’s intent to address the matter through formal channels.
Additionally, veteran producer T P Aggarwal has filed a petition in the Bombay Civil Court against FWICE and the Indian Motion Picture Producers’ Association (IMPPA). Aggarwal argues that no individual or organization has the authority to impose a ban or non-cooperation directive on industry members. He stated, “The film industry thrives on collaboration, and it is important that matters of this nature are addressed through proper legal and professional channels. Any attempt to discourage people from working with an individual should not be taken lightly. Such actions can have far-reaching consequences for livelihoods and creative freedom, and therefore must be dealt with in a fair, transparent, and lawful manner.”
Recap of the Initial Press Conference
During the initial press conference on May 25, Ashoke Pandit detailed the circumstances leading to the dispute. He explained that Farhan Akhtar had filed a complaint with the Indian Film & Television Directors’ Association (IFTDA) regarding Singh’s withdrawal from “Don 3” just weeks before filming was set to begin. Akhtar participated via Zoom from London, while Ritesh Sidhwani attended the IFTDA office in person to discuss the issue.
Pandit noted that despite multiple attempts to reach out to Singh for his side of the story, the actor did not respond. “Every 10 days, we reminded him (Ranveer Singh) three times to meet us and share his version as well. However, we didn’t get any response from him,” he said. Birendra Nath Tiwari added, “We feel that the message should go to the industry ki koi superstar niyam se bada nahin hai. Hence, we have put in place a non-cooperation directive against Ranveer from this very day.”
