March 2025 Bank Holidays: Key Dates Revealed

Bank customers across India should prepare for multiple bank holidays in March 2025. As per the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) guidelines, banks will close on specific dates due to regional festivities and observances under the Negotiable Instruments Act. Additionally, banks will not operate on the second and fourth Saturdays of the month.

March 2025 Bank Holidays List

The following dates will see bank closures in March 2025:

  • March 7 (Friday): Chapchar Kut
  • March 13 (Thursday): Holika Dahan, Attukal Pongala
  • March 14 (Friday): Holi (Second Day) โ€“ Dhuleti, Dhulandi, Dol Jatra
  • March 15 (Saturday): Holi, Yaosang 2nd Day
  • March 22 (Saturday): Bihar Diwas
  • March 27 (Thursday): Shab-I-Qadr
  • March 28 (Friday): Jumat-ul-Vida
  • March 31 (Monday): Ramzan-Id (Id-Ul-Fitr) (Shawal-1), Khutub-E-RamzanCustomers are advised to plan their banking activities accordingly to avoid any inconvenience during these closures.

    State-wise Bank Holidays Breakdown

    Different states will observe specific holidays throughout March 2025. Hereโ€™s a detailed look at the state-wise bank holidays:

  • March 7 (Friday): Mizoram will observe a bank holiday.
  • March 13 (Thursday): Banks will be closed in Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Jharkhand for Holika Dahan. In Kerala, banks will shut for the Attukal Pongala festival.
  • March 14 (Friday): A wide range of states including Gujarat, Mizoram, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, and others will not have banking operations.
  • March 15 (Saturday): Banks will be closed in Tripura, Odisha, Manipur, and Bihar.
  • March 22 (Saturday): As it is the fourth Saturday, banks across all states will remain closed.
  • March 27 (Thursday): Jammu and Srinagar will observe a holiday for Shab-I-Qadr.
  • March 28 (Friday): Banks in Jammu and Srinagar will also close for Jumat-ul-Vida.
  • March 31 (Monday): Although Ramzan-Id is a holiday in most states, the RBI has mandated that agency banks and those handling government transactions remain operational.

    Despite the bank closures, customers will still have access to ATMs, mobile banking, and internet banking services. It is crucial for customers to plan their financial transactions in advance to ensure they are not inconvenienced during these holiday periods.
