Dr Mansukh Mandaviya chairs the Doctors’ Day Celebrations at Lady Hardinge Medical College
Dr Mansukh Mandaviya, Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare, today presided over the Doctors Day celebration at Lady Hardinge Medical College (LHMC).
Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya gave a shoutout to the medical fraternity for their selfless service, saying, “Our doctors and medical professionals have played a critical role in our lives.”. Celebrating National Doctors Day every year on 1st July is one way to acknowledge their importance. “This is the birth and death anniversary of the legendary Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy, a pioneer in the Indian medical profession and a doctor par excellence.”
Furthermore, he remarked that with the 75th anniversary of our Independence and the ongoing celebration of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, we are also celebrating National Doctors’ Day by recognizing the stalwarts of the medical fraternity who are older than 75 years old for their outstanding commitment to society, humanity, and nation.
Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya said we should take inspiration from Bidhan Chandra Roy, a great doctor and administrator. Saluting the efforts of the medical workforce, Dr. Mandaviya said, “Health is seen as a seva in our country, and our doctors have followed our tradition of “Seva bhav” and “Seva Parmo Dharma” by working tirelessly and selflessly. That’s why our COVID warriors performed their duty in a selfless manner. Further, he said our efforts should always be focused on the advancement of the Nation. We need to keep doing our seva bhav because only then can we build a Healthy India, which in turn leads to a Samruddha Rashtra.
Focusing on recent challenges like TB, Cataracts, and Leprosy, he urged all stakeholders to work with dedication and commitment to meet targets like TB Mukt Bharat and eradicating leprosy in the country.
