Bihar Gramin Bank Employees Celebrate Successful Dispute Resolutions

In a significant development for the workforce at Bihar Gramin Bank, two major industrial disputes involving bank management and employee organizations were successfully concluded on October 22 and 23, 2026. These resolutions were achieved through the dedicated efforts of the Assistant Labour Commissioner (Central), based in Patna, as part of the Ministry of Labour and Employment, Government of India.

The amicable agreements are projected to bring substantial financial advantages, totaling around ₹77.69 crore, to over 10,900 employees across the bank. Among these benefits, recurring annual rewards of approximately ₹9.02 crore are set to result from the settlement with the Bihar Gramin Bank Workers Organisation (BGBWO).

Details of the Settlements

The first agreement, finalized on October 22, is between the Bihar Gramin Bank Adhikari Sangh, Patna, and the bank’s management. This settlement is expected to positively impact about 8,400 employees, providing them with financial benefits approximating ₹67.17 crore. Key employee demands addressed in this settlement include the establishment of Payment Linked Incentive (PLI), officiating allowances, wage increases, elevated travel allowances, timely promotions, and compassionate appointments.

Second Agreement Outcomes

The second settlement, reached the following day, involves the BGBWO and aims to benefit approximately 2,500 employees. This pact is anticipated to deliver about ₹10.52 crore in benefits, which includes the recurring annual rewards of around ₹9.02 crore. Important aspects covered in this agreement consist of the thorough implementation of the 12th Bipartite Settlement, an increase in House Rent Allowance (HRA), heightened transport allowances for Divyang employees, timely payment of overtime, transparent promotion processes, and the establishment of a Negotiating Council.

A Step Toward Industrial Harmony

These successful negotiations, facilitated by constructive dialogue and strong cooperation between employee organizations and bank management, not only resolved the disputes amicably but also enhanced industrial harmony. The efforts reflect the Chief Labour Commissioner (Central) Organisation’s unwavering commitment to protect employee rights, promote equitable labor practices, and nurture positive industrial relations through effective engagement and communication.
