Unity Run in New Delhi to Honor Sardar Patel and Promote Cleanliness
The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) is set to host a Unity Run at Electronics Niketan in New Delhi on October 31, 2026. This event will celebrate the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and wrap up Special Campaign 6.0. The program aims to promote cleanliness, enhance management of government resources, and foster a culture of hygiene as a continuous practice.
Focus of Special Campaign 6.0
Running from October 2 to 31, 2026, Special Campaign 6.0 targets several key areas: disposing of pending references, managing electronic waste responsibly, handling scrap disposal, reviewing both physical and digital records, and improving cleanliness and space management. Moreover, the campaign aims to streamline rules and administrative procedures.
Engagement Across MeitY
All divisions of MeitY, including its headquarters and associated field offices, are actively involved in the campaign. A major focus is placed on maintaining cleanliness in public-facing offices, ensuring the scientific disposal of waste, and promoting awareness among officials about the significance of ongoing hygiene practices that extend beyond the campaign.
Unity Run Highlights
The Unity Run on October 31 will include the administration of the Swachhata pledge, during which participants will commit to cleanliness initiatives. The event will also recognize organizations that have excelled in the campaign and honor Safai Mitras for their pivotal role in sustaining cleanliness. Officials and staff from MeitY in Delhi are anticipated to partake in this celebratory run.
Fit India Freedom Run Participation
This initiative aligns with the seventh edition of the Fit India Freedom Run 2026, which encourages citizens to engage in at least 30 minutes of physical activity daily. Kicking off with a Plog Run on Gandhi Jayanti and culminating with the Unity Run, this nationwide campaign emphasizes the message “Fitness Ke Dose, Aadha Ghanta Roz”—a slogan promoting daily fitness routines.
Commitment to Sustainability
Through these initiatives, MeitY aims to strengthen the values of cleanliness, fitness, administrative efficiency, and a collective sense of responsibility among government officials and staff. The Unity Run serves not only as a tribute to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel but also as a reminder of the importance of sustained cleanliness and well-managed government facilities.
