New Members Join Development Board for Nomadic Communities

In a significant development for the welfare of marginalized communities, Shri Sudhansh Pant, Secretary of the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, will officiate the oath-taking ceremony for two new members of the Development and Welfare Board for De-notified, Nomadic and Semi-Nomadic Communities (DWBDNC) in the National Capital tomorrow. Shri Narayan Dewasi and Shri Swaroop Singh Banjara have been appointed as members of the governing body, with a commitment to enhance the socio-economic development of these unique communities.

Shri Narayan Dewasi officially took charge on September 25, 2026, while Shri Swaroop Singh Banjara joined the board slightly earlier on September 17, 2026. Their appointments have been made by the Department of Social Justice & Empowerment, granting them a tenure of three years from their respective joining dates, or until further notice.

The DWBDNC plays a crucial role in addressing the various welfare and developmental needs of de-notified, nomadic, and semi-nomadic communities. This board is dedicated to promoting initiatives that aim for the socio-economic upliftment and empowerment of these groups, many of which have long faced neglect and discrimination.

The oath-taking ceremony will not only mark the formal beginning of the new members’ responsibilities but is also poised to fortify the governing body’s efforts in fulfilling its mission. With new members at the helm, the Board anticipates advancing various initiatives aimed at improving the living standards and empowering the communities it serves.

The significance of such appointments is underscored by the challenges these communities face, including issues related to social acceptance, education, and economic opportunities. As the new members step into their roles, they are expected to bring fresh perspectives and a dedicated approach to tackling these longstanding issues.

This ceremony signals an important step in the ongoing commitment of the government to uplift marginalized groups. The integration of Shri Dewasi and Shri Banjara into the DWBDNC is a promising development for the future efforts directed at promoting the welfare, socio-economic growth, and overall empowerment of De-notified, Nomadic and Semi-Nomadic Communities.
