Government Officials Promote Cleanliness at Shramdaan Event

On October 1, 2026, the Legislative Department and the Department of Legal Affairs under the Ministry of Law and Justice organized a Shramdaan event at the historic Safdarjung Tomb in New Delhi. This initiative coincided with the Swachhata Hi Seva Campaign, aiming to raise awareness about cleanliness, hygiene, and civic responsibility under the theme ‘Ek Din, Ek Ghanta, Ek Saath’ (One Day, One Hour, Together).

Minister Leads by Example

The event was led by Shri Arjun Ram Meghwal, the Hon’ble Minister of State (I/c), accompanied by Dr. Rajiv Mani, Secretary, Shri Chetan Sharma, ASG, and other senior officials from both departments. They were joined by representatives from associated offices, including Vidhi Sahitya Prakashan and the Official Language Wing, as well as advocates from the Supreme Court and High Court of New Delhi.

Swachhata Kits Distributed

During the event, Minister Meghwal distributed Swachhata Kits to sanitation workers, reinforcing the campaign’s message about the importance of cleanliness for societal welfare. He engaged with both the officials and the sanitation personnel, participating actively in the Shramdaan activities.

Emphasizing Collective Responsibility

Shri Meghwal highlighted that the Swachhata Hi Seva Campaign underscores the necessity of cleanliness not only in public areas and offices but also within homes and communities. He encouraged all officials and employees to adopt cleanliness and hygiene as a daily practice to foster a cleaner, healthier environment for everyone.

Recognition of the Elderly

Additionally, the minister brought attention to the International Day of Older Persons, which also falls on October 1. He acknowledged the invaluable guidance and experience that older generations provide, emphasizing their role in inspiring the youth towards maintaining cleanliness and contributing to a better nation.

Unified Effort for Cleanliness

The Shramdaan event saw enthusiastic participation from officers and staff of the involved departments, embodying the essence of ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’. This initiative served as a timely reminder for everyone to engage in their own efforts, both individually and collectively, to enhance cleanliness and hygiene in society.
