Punjabi singer-songwriter Guru Randhawa has stepped up to aid flood-affected communities in Upper Assam by donating Rs 5 lakhs from his personal funds. This generous contribution is being channeled through digital creator Dimpu Baruah, who is currently leading on-ground relief operations in some of the hardest-hit areas of the state. As Assam grapples with the aftermath of devastating floods, Randhawa’s support comes at a crucial time for those in need.
Assam’s Ongoing Crisis
The floods in Assam have had a catastrophic impact, claiming 82 lives as of August 2, 2026, according to the Assam State Disaster Management Authority. Approximately 1.78 lakh people remain affected across seven districts. In light of this humanitarian crisis, Guru Randhawa has called for nationwide support, urging citizens to contribute to the recovery efforts. He stated, “The devastation in Assam is heartbreaking, and we cannot let our brothers and sisters fight this crisis alone. While rescue teams and administrative authorities are doing their best, I appeal to everyone nationwide to pitch in and support the recovery.”
Randhawa’s donation will bolster relief initiatives coordinated by the Hello Life Foundation, led by Dimpu Baruah and his team. The organization has reportedly raised over ₹16.64 lakh through public donations and plans to visit flood-affected areas in mid-August. They aim to distribute cash assistance, food, clothing, medical supplies, and other essential items directly to families impacted by the floods.
A History of Humanitarian Efforts
Guru Randhawa is no stranger to humanitarian work. He has previously participated in various relief initiatives across India. During the 2025 Punjab floods, he established relief camps in Dera Baba Nanak and Dharowali, providing cattle feed, financing the reconstruction of damaged homes, and distributing wheat seeds to farmers affected by the disaster. His commitment to helping those in need extends beyond natural disasters.
In addition to his recent contributions, Randhawa donated ₹20 lakh from his personal savings to the PM-CARES Fund during the COVID-19 pandemic. He has also supported initiatives focused on student education and youth welfare over the years, showcasing his dedication to uplifting communities.

Randhawa’s contribution is part of a larger nationwide initiative aimed at supporting Assam’s flood-hit communities.
