Trump’s $1.4 Billion Boost from Cryptocurrency: Exploring How Digital Currency Investments Enhanced the Former President’s Wealth

US President Donald Trump’s recent financial disclosure reveals a significant transformation in his income sources, with cryptocurrency now accounting for the majority of his wealth. According to the annual filing with the US Office of Government Ethics, Trump reported over $1.4 billion in income from his family’s crypto ventures in 2025. This marks a notable shift, as digital assets have surpassed his traditional real estate and golf businesses as the primary contributors to his fortune.

Crypto Ventures Drive Income

The disclosure indicates that Trump’s companies received nearly $800 million from World Liberty Financial, a cryptocurrency venture co-founded by Trump and his sons. This income includes more than $520 million from crypto token sales and over $250 million from selling interests in the World Liberty business. Additionally, Trump reported another $635 million from the sale of his Trump meme coins, further solidifying the role of cryptocurrency in his earnings.

The figures represent a dramatic increase from the previous year’s disclosure. In 2024, Trump reported $57.35 million from token sales at World Liberty Financial, which has surged nearly nine-fold in just one year. This growth coincides with the Trump administration’s policies that have been perceived as favorable to the cryptocurrency sector. Since returning to the White House in 2025, Trump has supported initiatives such as federal regulations for stablecoins and relaxed enforcement by the US Justice Department and the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Traditional Businesses Still Profitable

Despite the dominance of cryptocurrency in Trump’s reported income, his traditional businesses continue to generate substantial revenue. His golf courses and resorts reported over $500 million in revenue in 2025, reflecting a 15% increase from the previous year. Revenue at Mar-a-Lago rose to $77 million, up from $50 million in 2024, while his West Palm Beach golf club also saw higher earnings.

The disclosure also reveals that Trump earned more than $80 million from settlements with media companies and $52 million from licensing his name for overseas property developments, particularly in the Middle East. While the White House has stated that Trump’s business interests are managed by his children, the president remains the beneficiary of the trust that receives income from these assets.
