Prime Minister Narendra Modi and South Korean President Lee Jae Myung held significant discussions on Monday at Hyderabad House, aimed at enhancing the bilateral relationship between India and South Korea. Earlier in the day, President Lee, accompanied by First Lady Kim Hea-kyung, paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat, laying a wreath at the memorial. Upon his arrival in New Delhi on Sunday, President Lee received a ceremonial welcome at Rashtrapati Bhavan, where he was greeted by President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Modi. The reception featured children dressed in traditional attire, waving the national flags of both countries, symbolizing the friendship and shared values between India and South Korea.

The Ministry of External Affairs described President Lee’s visit as a significant development in bilateral relations, marking an “important milestone” in the India-South Korea Special Strategic Partnership. The ministry’s post on X emphasized the importance of this visit in advancing cooperation across various sectors.

In their discussions, both leaders highlighted the need to expand collaboration in critical minerals. President Lee proposed moving beyond traditional models of importing raw materials, advocating for a partnership that combines South Korea’s technology with India’s mining and refining capabilities.
