PM Modi Launches 5 New Amrit Bharat Express Trains
Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated two new Amrit Bharat Express trains in Assam on Sunday, enhancing India’s long-distance rail network. The newly launched trains, the Dibrugarh–Gomtinagar Amrit Bharat Express and the Kamakhya–Rohtak Amrit Bharat Express, aim to improve travel experiences and connectivity for passengers. This initiative is part of a broader plan to introduce nine new Amrit Bharat Express services, addressing the growing demand for affordable and comfortable long-distance travel. Additionally, three more trains will be launched in West Bengal, bringing the total to five new services.
Kamakhya–Rohtak Amrit Bharat Express
The Kamakhya–Rohtak Amrit Bharat Express will connect Kamakhya in Assam with Rohtak in Haryana, significantly enhancing long-distance travel between the North-East and northern India. This train will operate as train number 15671 on its route from Kamakhya to Rohtak, with the return service designated as train number 15672. The weekly service is scheduled to depart Kamakhya at 10 PM on Fridays, arriving in Rohtak at 2:45 PM on Sundays. Conversely, the return journey will leave Rohtak at 10:10 PM on Sundays, reaching Kamakhya at 12:15 PM on Tuesdays.
The train will stop at several key stations, including Kamakhya, Katihar, Chhapra Gramin, Varanasi, Prayagraj, and Delhi, among others. It will also have commercial stoppages at various locations such as Rangiya, Barpeta Road, and Ghaziabad. The Kamakhya–Rohtak Amrit Bharat Express will operate with a total of 22 coaches, ensuring ample capacity for passengers.
Dibrugarh–Gomtinagar Amrit Bharat Express
The Dibrugarh–Gomtinagar Amrit Bharat Express aims to establish a direct rail link between the North-Eastern region and northern India. This service will operate as train number 15949 from Dibrugarh to Gomtinagar, with the return journey designated as train number 15950. The train is set to depart Dibrugarh at 9 PM on Fridays, arriving in Gomtinagar (Lucknow) at 1:30 PM on Sundays. The return service will leave Gomtinagar at 1:40 PM on Tuesdays and reach Dibrugarh at 7:40 PM.
Key stations along this route include Dibrugarh, Katihar Junction, and Ayodhya Dham Junction. The train will also have commercial stoppages at various locations, including Moranhat, Guwahati, and Gorakhpur. Like the Kamakhya–Rohtak service, this train will also consist of 22 coaches, catering to the needs of long-distance travelers.
New Services in West Bengal
In addition to the new services in Assam, Prime Minister Modi will flag off three more Amrit Bharat Express trains in West Bengal. These include the Kolkata (Howrah) – Anand Vihar Terminal train, the Kolkata (Sealdah) – Banaras train, and the Kolkata (Santragachi) – Tambaram train. Each of these services aims to enhance connectivity between eastern India and other major regions, facilitating smoother travel for passengers.
The Howrah–Anand Vihar Amrit Bharat Express will operate as train number 13065, departing Howrah at 11:10 PM on Thursdays and arriving at Anand Vihar Terminal at 2:50 AM on Saturdays. The return journey will leave Anand Vihar at 5:15 AM on Saturdays, reaching Howrah at 10:50 AM on Sundays. The Sealdah–Banaras Amrit Bharat Express will run as train number 22588, enhancing connectivity between eastern India and Banaras, a significant spiritual center.
