People must elect their representative based on Character, Conduct, Calibre and Capacity

Venkaiah Naidu,ย Vice President of India

The Vice President of India Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu emphasized the need for people to elect their representative based on exclusively 4Cs — Character, Conduct, Calibre and Capacity.

While releasing a book โ€˜Suparipalanaโ€™ the Telugu translation of โ€œEcho T Calling: Towards People-Centric Governanceโ€ which is written by Telangana Chief Secretary, Shri S K Joshi, the Vice President conveyed that people need to elect their representative based on exclusively 4Cs — Character, Conduct, Calibre and Capacity. He also expressed regret that it is done based on otherwise: People elect their representative based on other 4Cs — Caste, Community, Cash and Criminality. He reiterated in his statement

โ€œCitizen-centric governance will come from governance-centric electorateโ€

The Vice President said that good governance is essential to fulfilling the aspirations of the people and ensuring that various schemes were implemented effectively. Good governance was also equally important to fulfil the aspirations of the people. โ€œHappiness comes with good governanceโ€, he added.

Describing elected governments as โ€˜holders of public trustโ€™, Shri Naidu advised them to act responsibly and serve the people conscientiously. He called for streamlining the governmentโ€™s efforts to make the ease of living better for all citizens.
