Virat Kohli’s Siblings Steal the Spotlight as He Breaks Sachin Tendulkar’s Record in IND vs SA Clash
Vikas Kohli and Bhawna Kohli, siblings of cricket icon Virat Kohli, have taken to social media to celebrate his remarkable achievement following India’s thrilling 17-run victory over South Africa in Ranchi. Virat Kohli reached a significant milestone by scoring his 52nd international century, completing the feat in just 103 balls. His innings, which featured seven fours and five sixes, not only secured the win for India but also allowed him to surpass Sachin Tendulkar’s record for the most centuries in a single format, previously held at 51 Test hundreds.
Kohli’s Stellar Performance
In the first ODI against South Africa, Virat Kohli showcased his batting prowess by scoring 135 runs off 120 deliveries. His innings included 11 boundaries and seven sixes, reaffirming his crucial role in the Indian ODI lineup at the age of 37. Kohli’s century was celebrated widely, with his siblings using the now-popular shush emoji in their social media posts to mark the occasion. Kohli expressed his thoughts on success and failure, emphasizing the importance of self-awareness in his journey as a cricketer. He stated, “I have put in a considerable amount of work over the years, so I would say that yes, I am in that place now. I can say that I am still looking to get better every day of my life.”
South Africa won the toss and opted to field first. India faced an early setback when Yashasvi Jaiswal was dismissed for 18 runs. However, a strong partnership between Rohit Sharma and Kohli steadied the innings, with Sharma contributing 57 runs off 51 balls. Despite losing three quick wickets, including Rohit, Ruturaj Gaikwad, and Washington Sundar, India managed to recover. Kohli and KL Rahul formed a vital 76-run partnership, with Rahul scoring 60 runs. The duo, along with Ravindra Jadeja, who added 32 runs, helped India post a total of 349 runs for 8 wickets in their allotted 50 overs.
South Africa’s Chase
South Africa’s innings began poorly, losing three wickets for just 11 runs. Tony de Zorzi and Matthew Breetzke then stabilized the innings with a partnership of 66 runs. Dewald Brevis provided a quick 37 runs, but South Africa found themselves in trouble at 130 runs with half their side back in the pavilion. Breetzke and Marco Jansen kept the chase alive with a 97-run partnership, scoring 72 and 80 runs, respectively. However, both were dismissed by Kuldeep Yadav, leaving South Africa at 227 for 8. Corbin Bosch fought valiantly with a score of 67 runs, but ultimately, South Africa fell short by 17 runs. Indian bowler Harshit Rana was instrumental in the victory, taking three wickets for 65 runs.
