He stressed that such missions highlight the need for international cooperation in space exploration, which is crucial for addressing the challenges that lie ahead.

Engaging with Future Astronauts

Massimino’s visit included a tour of the school’s advanced facilities, such as the AR-VR Lab and Atal Tinkering Lab. He shared his personal journey to becoming an astronaut, inspired by a film about astronauts. The former astronaut answered a variety of questions from students, ranging from the types of food consumed in space to the challenges of adapting to zero gravity. He also discussed the role of artificial intelligence in space missions, explaining how it can enhance efficiency, safety, and cost-effectiveness in future explorations.

Advice for Aspiring Astronauts

Throughout the event, students expressed their curiosity about pursuing careers in space. Massimino encouraged them to explore diverse fields, including soil sciences and marine biology, as they prepare for future opportunities. He shared insights into his most challenging projects at NASA and discussed the feasibility of human habitation on Mars. While he believes that living on the Moon could soon become a reality, he noted that establishing a human presence on Mars will take more time due to existing technological hurdles.
