Mistral Launches Le Chat Apps for Mobile

On Thursday, Mistral, a Paris-based artificial intelligence (AI) firm, unveiled its new iOS and Android applications for its AI assistant, Le Chat. Previously, users could only access Le Chat through a web client. Now, with the launch of mobile apps, Mistral aims to broaden its reach and enhance user experience across various platforms. The Le Chat assistant is powered by Mistral’s advanced large language models (LLMs), enabling it to handle a wide range of tasks. These include answering general queries, performing web searches, accepting multimodal inputs, generating images, and executing code in a secure environment. Additionally, Mistral has introduced two new subscription tiers, providing users with access to improved AI models and increased rate limits.

Mistral Releases Le Chat Apps for iOS and Android

Mistral announced the launch of its Le Chat applications for both iOS and Android devices in a recent newsroom post. This move positions Le Chat as a competitor to other well-known chatbots, such as Google’s Gemini, OpenAI’s ChatGPT, Microsoft’s Copilot, and Anthropic’s Claude. While these chatbots offer similar functionalities, Mistral emphasizes several unique features that set Le Chat apart.

All major chatbots today can answer questions, engage in conversations, generate images, perform web searches, and assist with coding tasks. However, Mistral claims that Le Chat excels in speed and quality. The company asserts that it utilizes โ€œthe fastest inference engines on the planet,โ€ allowing the chatbot to generate responses at an impressive rate of up to 1,000 words per second. Testing conducted by Gadgets 360 revealed that Le Chat’s response generation time is slightly quicker than that of ChatGPT and Gemini. Notably, this feature is accessible to all users without the need to create an account, making it convenient for anyone looking to leverage AI assistance.

Unique Features of Le Chat

One of the standout features of Le Chat is its ability to generate high-quality images. Mistral employs the Black Forest Labs Flux Ultra model for this purpose, which produces photorealistic images that closely adhere to user prompts. While the perception of image quality can be subjective, initial tests indicated that Le Chat delivers satisfactory results in this area.

Another significant advantage of Le Chat is its enterprise deployment option. Many businesses are cautious about hosting sensitive information on third-party cloud servers. To address this concern, Mistral allows companies to deploy Le Chat locally. This enables businesses to connect with custom tools and utilize tailored models, ensuring that sensitive data remains secure. This enterprise offering is part of the Le Chat Enterprise subscription, which is currently available in a private preview.

Subscription Tiers and Pricing

In addition to the Enterprise tier, Mistral has introduced two new subscription options: Pro and Team. The Pro subscription is priced at $14.99 per month (approximately Rs. 1,310) and provides users with access to Mistral’s highest-performing models. It also includes unlimited messaging, higher rate limits, and the option to opt out of data sharing with the company. This tier is ideal for individual users who require robust AI capabilities.

The Team subscription, aimed at businesses, costs $24.99 per user per month (around Rs. 2,180). This option is designed to meet the needs of organizations looking to leverage AI for team collaboration and productivity. With these new subscription tiers, Mistral is positioning Le Chat as a versatile tool for both individual users and enterprises, catering to a wide range of needs in the rapidly evolving AI landscape.
