NCC Expands with New State Directorates in Andhra Pradesh and Jharkhand
In a pivotal move to enhance youth empowerment and broaden access to the National Cadet Corps (NCC), the Headquarters Directorate General NCC has announced the establishment of independent State Directorates in Andhra Pradesh and Jharkhand. This expansion increases the total number of NCC State Directorates across India from 17 to 19.
The creation of these new State Directorates will allow the NCC to forge closer ties with cadets and the educational institutions that serve them. This revamped administrative structure is expected to facilitate more effective coordination and improved supervision, ultimately enhancing support for training and developmental initiatives.
With a renewed focus on providing greater opportunities for youth in Andhra Pradesh and Jharkhand, the NCC aims to bolster training infrastructure and support mechanisms. These efforts align with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of empowering Indian youth, ensuring they develop into confident and capable citizens who are socially responsible and ready to contribute to the nation’s growth.
Originally established in 1948 with just 20,000 cadets, the NCC has evolved into the world’s largest uniformed youth organization, boasting over 2 million cadets today. In a remarkable growth, the organization has seen an increase of 600,000 cadets from 2014 to 2025 and operates in more than 750 districts across the country. Thanks to this expansion and the strengthening of its administrative capacities, the NCC continues to play a crucial role in nurturing responsible citizens and building a stronger, more developed India.
